Need Help With Cake Ideas

I am working on planning a surprise party for my sister's 18th birthday. I would like to have the party on August 14th.

The problem is, I want to do a tropical theme party. We have a tradition of having a barbie cake for the birthday girl that started when I was 6 years old and we are still doing. How can I make the barbie cake look tropical?
