St Patricks Day party ideas are used to celebrate the feast of St Patricks which falls on the 17th March each year. St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and this holiday is celebrated the world over with many cities having an annual parade or carnival.

If there is not an Irish celebration going on near you try and visit an Irish pub or even start your own celebration. You can even create your own Irish pub theme or a St Patricks parade with party supplies for the USA or UK.

Ireland is a Celtic culture and there are many Irish traditions that you can incorporate into your party such as:

  • Wearing of Green - This is to show Irish culture and heritage. Although most Irish people just wear a Shamrock.
  • Host a Parade - This is actually an American tradition that takes place on St Patricks day.
  • Shamrocks - Actually a three leaf clover. These are Ireland's most recognised symbols.
  • Four Leaf Clover - Very rare so thought to bring good luck if you find one.
  • Irish Limericks - With only five lines a limerick is similar to a poem but may be more humorous.
  • Irish Coffee - Coffee with Whiskey!
  • Irish Recipes - See food and drink below.

INVITATIONS

St Patricks Day party ideas for party invitations can be anything from Leprechauns to Clovers or Shamrocks, as long as the invitation features some kind of green!

A unique St Patricks day invites idea is to make a pot of gold invitation. First make the background to the invitation. Use a piece of A4 blue card. About half way down you will need to cut out then stick on some green card to form grass under a blue sky.

Then using a piece of black card cut out a large pot shape. Then glue around the outside of the pot, leaving no glue on the top of the pot. Stick the pot on the grass section of the A4 card. The idea is to just glue around the outside of the bottom and sides to form a sleeve inside the pot so you can put things in it.

Using some paints or colored card you then need to make a rainbow coming from the pot into the sky. If you are good at drawing you could also add a Leprechaun, or you could use some Leprechaun stickers. On the top half on the card (the sky) write:

"Will St Patricks Day bring YOU good luck. Delve inside the pot of gold to find out!"

Inside the pot you then need to put a slip of paper stating the party details on and also add a chocolate gold coin for good luck!
